Manila: State-run Land Bank of the Philippines has announced a PHP14 million financial aid package for local government units (LGUs) affected by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name Trami). This initiative aims to bolster recovery efforts for 130 LGUs across Luzon and the Visayas regions. According to Philippines News Agency, the financial assistance from LandBank is in addition to the PHP1.1 billion relief package previously announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) for affected families. LandBank President and CEO Lynette Ortiz emphasized the critical nature of this funding, stating that it will help LGUs enhance their calamity funds and maintain essential services for evacuees. Ortiz reiterated the bank's commitment to supporting LGUs in responding swiftly and effectively to community needs amidst uncertain recovery timelines. In addition to the LGU donations, LandBank is offering financial assistance to affected businesses and sectors through its Community Assistance and RE integration Support Plus (CARES PLUS) lending program. This program is available to micro, small, and medium enterprises, cooperatives, large corporations, and electric distribution utilities. Furthermore, LandBank's Electronic Salary Loan (eSL) provides quick access to funds for government and corporate employees enrolled in LandBank payroll services, with a servicing fee waiver for applications submitted until December 31. Existing eSL borrowers can also apply for early renewal after completing at least one month of paid amortization. The bank is also offering the EasyCash for Emergencies feature to LandBank credit cardholders, allowing them to convert available credit limits into emergency cash, repayable over a period of up to 36 months. Eligible customers will receive activation notifications or can request cash conversion directly from the bank.
