Letran Triumphs Over EAC in NCAA Women’s Volleyball Thriller

Manila: Letran survived Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 25-27, 15-13, to remain unbeaten after 10 matches in the NCAA Season 101 volleyball tournament at San Andres Sports Complex in Manila on Friday. Judiel Nitura led the Lady Knight with 21 points, Vanessa Sarie had 13 and Veranicce Colendra 11. Cara Dayanan and Marinel Ramos scored 19 and 18 points, respectively for the Lady Generals, who absorbed their 10th straight loss.

According to Philippines News Agency, College of Saint Benilde defeated top-seeded University of Perpetual Help, 25-20, 25-16, 25-19, to improve to 7-3 in Group A. Clydel Mae Catarig and Zamantha Nolasco finished with 16 points each as the Blazers avenged their first-round loss to the Lady Altas (8-2).

"We reflected on our games in the first round. We noticed that we were ahead in points but we were falling short at the end, so whatever we were lacking, we are fixing in training now. We are looking at our weaknesses," Camila Amor Bartolome, who scored 13 points in the 83-minute match, said. Chenae Basarte produced 19 excellent sets, while Shekaina Redge Lleses had seven points, 11 digs and 11 receptions.

Jemalyn Menor led Perpetual Help with 16 points off 15 attacks and one block, while Geraldine Palacio and Cyrille Joie Almeniana contributed six points apiece.
