Manila: Malaca±ang has announced that Batangas Rep. Leandro Leviste and former Negros Oriental Rep. Jacinto Paras may present evidence to refute the alleged 'honey trap' plot aimed at discrediting Executive Secretary Ralph Recto. This statement follows their denial of allegations that they conspired to frame Recto.

According to Philippines News Agency, during a Palace press briefing, Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary Claire Castro stated that the denials from Leviste and Paras were expected. Castro emphasized that it is typical for respondents to deny accusations against them to avoid immediate legal charges and potential arrest warrants.

Castro assured that due process would be observed, allowing Leviste and Paras the opportunity to present their side and submit evidence. She remarked, "If they have strong evidence stronger than the NBI's 'Superman' evidence, then it is up to them to show how they can overcome 'Superman'."

Her reference to the 'Superman' evidence was in connection to an earlier description by NBI Director Melvin Matibag, who characterized the evidence against Leviste and Paras as exceptionally strong. The NBI is currently investigating the alleged plot by Paras and Leviste to discredit Recto through the purported 'honey trap' scheme.

The alleged plot surfaced when the NBI-National Capital Region rescued several alleged female sex workers on July 28, who were reportedly hired to execute the scheme against Recto.
