KUALA LUMPUR: Local institutions have continued supporting Bursa Malaysia, marking the second consecutive week of net buying, with a total of RM354.9 million, according to MIDF Research. In its weekly fund flow report, the research firm noted that local retailers also maintained their net buying trend for the second consecutive week, amounting to RM2.7 million. Conversely, foreign funds have continued their exit from Bursa Malaysia for the second consecutive week, with an outflow totalling RM357.7 million. "They recorded net outflows of RM164.3 million on Monday, RM76.3 million on Tuesday and RM265.7 million on Thursday," MIDF Research said. The sectors with the highest net foreign outflows were financial services (RM206.9 million), consumer products and services (RM131.4 million) and construction (RM110.1 million). However, foreign investors net bought RM18.0 million on Wednesday and RM130.7 million on Friday. The sectors with the highest net foreign inflows last week were industrial products and servi ces (RM104.4 million), technology (RM67.6 million) and property (RM34.7 million). "In terms of participation, there were declines in average daily trading volume among all investor classes last week. "Foreign investors recorded the largest decline of 34.4 per cent, while local retailers and local institutions recorded declines of 19.5 per cent and 15.1 per cent, respectively," it added.
