Manila: A low pressure area (LPA) situated outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) alongside four additional weather systems are anticipated to cause rain across the majority of the country, as reported by the weather bureau on Sunday. According to Philippines News Agency, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in its 5 a.m. bulletin identified the LPA approximately 1,130 kilometers east of Southern Mindanao, with expectations of entering PAR within the day. PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina noted the LPA has a 'medium' likelihood of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. Upon entering PAR, the LPA will be named Verbena and is forecasted to bring moderate to heavy rainfall in Eastern and Central Visayas, as well as the Caraga region. Currently, regions such as Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, Eastern Visayas, and Bohol are experiencing cloudy conditions with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA. The shear line continues to cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms in Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, and Quirino. The rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley are experiencing cloudy skies with rain due to the northeast monsoon or "amihan." The Ilocos Region is witnessing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also attributed to "amihan." In Mindanao, the rest of the region is experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ). Meanwhile, easterlies are causing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte. Metro Manila and other parts of the country are experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies. Strong northeast winds and rough coastal waters are affecting extreme northern Luzon.
