MANILA — The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT 2) limited its operations on Sunday morning from Santolan to Cubao station and vice versa.
In an advisory posted on its Twitter page, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) explained that the downgraded operations will give way to ongoing repairs of its power cables, signalling and telecommunication fiber optics that were damaged by a fire which broke out on Saturday night.
A fire broke out at 9:57 pm near Pureza station due to a burnt junction box of the overhead category wire that supply 1,500 volts DC to the train. The exposed cables were possibly affected by heavy downpour and lightning that cascaded to the junction box, the LRTA said.
LRTA added that its engineering and maintenance team is working double time to restore the full operations of LRT 2 from Santolan to Recto and vice versa at the soonest possible time.
