LTO Defends Enforcers Amid Viral Confrontation with Protesters in QC

Quezon city: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Thursday said its enforcers were acting in the lawful performance of their duties in response to a viral video of a confrontation with a Quezon City councilor and protestors.

According to Philippines News Agency, the LTO stated that the video showed two LTO enforcers whose actions were pursuant to the LTO's mandate 'to enforce transportation laws and regulations and protect the riding public.' The agency emphasized that their personnel are expected to fulfill their duties with courtesy and respect, following directives from President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and the guidance of Department of Transportation Secretary Banoy Lopez.

The LTO urged the public to extend the same courtesy and cooperation to government personnel during such lawful enforcement activities. They reiterated their commitment to enforcing transportation laws and regulations to ensure public safety.

In the viral video, two LTO enforcers were captured issuing a ticket to a commuter van parked along a street during a protest in Quezon City. This action attracted a crowd of protestors led by Quezon City Councilor Rannie Ludovica, who admonished the enforcers. One enforcer responded calmly despite being berated by Ludovica and surrounded by protestors.
