San Fernando City:Eight road safety teams from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) - Ilocos Region have been strategically assigned to various areas to ensure safe and orderly travel as motorists and commuters visit cemeteries and memorial parks for All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day on November 1 and 2.

According to Philippines News Agency, this initiative supports the government's vision of achieving zero road fatalities and promoting responsible mobility during the anticipated increase in travel for the Undas observance this year.

The LTO's Undas operation, which began with a send-off ceremony led by LTO Regional Director Glorioso Danue Martinez in San Fernando City, La Union, will continue until November 4. During this period, personnel from the LTO's Regional Law Enforcement Section will monitor road safety compliance, assist travelers, and remind motorists to adhere to traffic regulations.

Additionally, the LTO will conduct information and education campaigns at transport terminals and public areas, emphasizing the importance of traffic regulations and the practice of responsible and defensive driving. Motorists are urged to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy, observe speed limits, avoid distracted driving, and refrain from driving under the influence of alcohol. Drivers are also encouraged to plan their trips, allow sufficient travel time, and remain alert, especially along busy roads and routes leading to cemeteries.
