Manila: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is filing several charges against a driver who was caught on video recklessly swerving across four lanes and nearly causing a collision at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Expressway (NAIAX).

According to Philippines News Agency, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao announced that a show cause order (SCO) has been issued against the driver and owner of the Ford Everest involved in the incident that went viral on social media. Lacanilao emphasized the importance of road safety and the agency's commitment to preventing dangerous driving behaviors from endangering the public.

The driver and owner are facing possible charges of "Reckless Driving, Signals on Starting, Stopping or Turning, Disregarding Traffic Signs, and Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle." As part of the LTO's ongoing investigation, the driver's license has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle has been placed on alarm.

Lacanilao stated that the individuals in question have been instructed to submit a verified or sworn comment/explanation along with relevant original documents to justify why they should not receive administrative penalties or have their driver's licenses revoked or suspended.

Both the driver and the owner have been summoned to attend a hearing with the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) in Quezon City on January 28. Lacanilao also urged all motorists to adhere to road rules to prevent accidents and ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
