Tagaytay: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the owners and drivers of six sports cars involved in a race captured on video in Tagaytay that gained widespread attention on social media. In a statement, LTO Executive Director Greg Pua emphasized that all drivers involved are in the process of being identified, highlighting that the incident endangered the lives of road users in the area.
According to Philippines News Agency, Pua criticized the actions of the drivers, stating that there are designated places for such activities, and public roads are intended for the safe mobility of all users, not for reckless driving. Show cause orders (SCOs) have been issued to the registered owners of the vehicles involved, which include two Mazda MX-5s, a Ford Mustang, a Nissan Z, a Chevrolet Camaro, and a BMW M4.
The registered owners are required to identify and present the drivers of these sports cars. The SCO, signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Chief Renante Melitante, demands that the owners explain why they should not be held accountable for reckless driving and for being improper persons to operate motor vehicles.
Currently, all six vehicles have been placed on alarm, and the drivers' licenses will be suspended for 90 days pending the results of the investigation. Pua issued a warning that such behavior will not be tolerated on the road, regardless of the type of vehicle, urging all drivers to adhere to proper conduct to avoid issues with the LTO.
