Tuguegarao city: The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the license of a pickup driver for 90 days following a collision with a motorcycle, as captured in a viral social media video.
According to Philippines News Agency, the suspension comes in response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to hold irresponsible and abusive drivers accountable. The incident, which occurred after the pickup truck crossed the Buntun Bridge in Tuguegarao City, involved the vehicle colliding with a motorcycle carrying two individuals.
The LTO's show cause order (SCO) revealed that dashcam footage posted on social media showed the Hilux pickup truck speeding and failing to stop after the collision. The driver and the registered owner of the pickup with license plate CAE 9348 have been summoned to a hearing with the LTO. They are required to justify why they should not face charges of reckless driving and why the driver's license should not be permanently revoked for being deemed an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
Additionally, the pickup truck has been placed on alarm status, halting all transactions with the LTO until the investigation is concluded.
