Madis Advances to Philta Visayas Women’s Open Semis with Decisive Win

San carlos: Top seed Tennielle Madis marched to the semifinal round after beating Althea Faye Ong, 6-2, 6-0, Thursday in the inaugural Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) Women's National Open at the San Carlos Tennis Center in Negros Occidental.

According to Philippines News Agency, Madis will face fourth seed Kaye Ann Emana, who scored a 6-2, 6-2 victory over No. 8 Loraine Jallorina. The stage is set for an exciting clash between the top contenders as they vie for a spot in the finals.

In the other semifinal match, second seed Stefi Marithe Aludo will meet third seed Tiffany Nocos. Aludo outplayed Mica Emana, 7-5, 6-4, while Nocos prevailed over sixth seed Nina Angeline Alcala, 6-4, 6-1, in the quarterfinals, making the upcoming matches highly anticipated.

Madis and Aludo, both members of the Philippine Tennis Academy, have a history of success, having won the doubles bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand. Their experience and skills are expected to add an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

The Group A category event, held in partnership with the city government of San Carlos headed by Mayor Renato Gustilo, offers a total of PHP335,000 in cash prizes. The singles champion will receive PHP75,000 and the runner-up PHP40,000. In the doubles category, the winners and runners-up will get PHP30,000 and PHP15,000, respectively.
