Manila: A magnitude 5.4 earthquake jolted Occidental Mindoro on Friday, as reported by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The tectonic earthquake, initially recorded as magnitude 5.8, struck 13 kilometers southwest of Mamburao at approximately 10:38 a.m., with a depth of 14 kilometers.

According to Philippines News Agency, the earthquake's effects were widely felt across several regions. Intensity V shaking was reported in Mamburao in Occidental Mindoro, as well as in the City of Calapan, Naujan, Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, and Victoria in Oriental Mindoro. Intensity IV was experienced in Taal, Batangas, along with Abra De Ilog and Sablayan in Occidental Mindoro.

Additionally, Intensity III tremors affected areas including Quezon City, Batangas City, the City of General Trias in Cavite, and the City of San Pedro in Laguna. Meanwhile, Intensity II vibrations were felt in Para±aque City, Santa Cruz in Laguna, and Guinayangan in Quezon.

Phivolcs has indicated that aftershocks are possible, but they do not expect significant damage from the earthquake.
