Batanes: A magnitude 5.7 earthquake was felt by residents in Batanes and nearby Cagayan and Ilocos Norte provinces at 12:12 noon on Wednesday, state seismologists said. Located at 144 km northwest of Itbayat, Batanes, the earthquake was tectonic in origin with a depth of 10 km, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

According to Philippines News Agency, some residents also felt Intensity I in Claveria, Cagayan, and parts of Ilocos Norte. Residents in these areas were advised to take precautionary measures as aftershocks are expected.
