Malacañang Responds to Vice President Sara Duterte’s Critique of Administration

Manila:Malacañang has labeled Vice President Sara Duterte's recent remarks as "funny" and "extremely ridiculous" after she urged the Marcos administration to "start working and stop politicking." The Palace emphasized that the government is focused on addressing the country's challenges.

According to Philippines News Agency, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro defended President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s administration, stating that efforts have been consistent in improving the economy and the lives of Filipinos since the start of his presidency.

Castro reacted to Duterte's accusations that the administration is shifting its narrative by framing issues related to alleged Chinese funding and a drug shipment intercepted in Laos as national security concerns to undermine the Vice President. Castro reiterated that the administration has been working continuously to uplift the economy and improve the lives of Filipinos.

The administration is also addressing other significant challenges, including the crisis in the Middle East, natural disasters, and the El Niño phenomenon. Castro affirmed Marcos's commitment to law enforcement and holding accountable those involved in wrongdoing, especially acts threatening national security.

Castro further questioned Duterte's criticism of the administration's work ethic, highlighting the Vice President's frequent overseas trips since 2025, which she described as personal travels. She noted that while Thailand had been mentioned as a destination, no public mention of a planned trip to Laos by Duterte had been made by the Palace.

The Palace official also referenced allegations against Duterte during Senate impeachment proceedings, noting that these have not yet been disproven. She stated that the Palace would not intervene in the proceedings, acknowledging the ongoing presentation of evidence.
