‘Maldives of Mindanao’ Park Opens in Sinacaban to Boost Economy

Sinacaban: The Department of Tourism (DOT) 10 (Northern Mindanao) is positioning a positive outlook for Misamis Occidental following the launch of major tourism infrastructure in the province. During the inauguration of a new recreational park on Tuesday, DOT-10 Director Marie Elaine Unchuan said the tourism development plan under Governor Henry Oaminal Sr. is grounded in communities where constituents can feel the results of a growing local economy.

According to Philippines News Agency, Unchuan remarked that the initiative is the outcome of a strategic decision to invest in both people and tourism to shape a better future for Misamis Occidental. She highlighted that Governor Oaminal's deliberate and disciplined policies in tourism development are structured not only to benefit one sector but to create broad economic networks across the region.

A key landmark in the province's strategy to become a world-class travel destination is the Asenso Misamis Occidental Recreation and Adventure Park (AMORAP), a multi-billion-peso project located along the shorelines of Sinacaban. Promoted as the 'Maldives in Mindanao,' the park's inauguration gained significant attention by hosting a major event for the Miss Universe Philippines pageant.

Governor Oaminal, who serves as the chair of the Regional Development Council-10, stated that the AMORAP project is envisioned to be more than just a physical development. He emphasized that the facility represents hospitality, opportunity, livelihood, and regional pride for all Misamisnons. "We want it to help strengthen tourism, create meaningful activity, and contribute to the growth and image of our province," Oaminal stated.
