Sarangani: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has reassured farmers that the government's ongoing flood control projects are specifically designed to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change, particularly in the agriculture sector. This commitment was made during the distribution of Certificates of Land Ownership Awards (CLOAs) and Certificates of Condonation with Release of Mortgages (CoCRoMs) in Alabel, Sarangani. According to Philippines News Agency, Marcos emphasized that the flood mitigation structures under construction at Bagacay Creek in Alabel and the Badtasan River Flood Control in Kiamba are nearing completion. These projects aim to safeguard the region's abundant agricultural resources against increasingly frequent typhoons attributed to climate change. Marcos expressed his hope that these initiatives will help prevent severe flooding and subsequent crop damage. At the event, President Marcos distributed 1,251 CLOAs and 13,527 CoCRoMs to agrarian reform beneficiaries in the Soccsksargen reg ion. The CLOAs were granted to 1,252 beneficiaries, covering 2,174.52 hectares in Sarangani province. Meanwhile, the CoCRoMs relieved approximately 11,699 beneficiaries of their debts, amounting to PHP939,105,338, across a total land area of 21,098.65 hectares.
