Manila: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Friday dismissed allegations that the administration is targeting the Senate majority bloc through coordinated legal actions, clarifying that ongoing investigations are linked to reported irregularities.

According to Philippines News Agency, the President's statement followed claims by Senator Imee Marcos that all 14 members of the Senate minority bloc are facing case buildups. She described this as an attempt to weaken the group through legal pressure. President Marcos, speaking in Tokyo, Japan before returning to Manila, asserted that the cases being reviewed are based on findings from the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee and other investigative bodies.

In the interview, Marcos expressed confusion over the claims, stating, 'I don't know why they are saying that the majority is being targeted. Because if you look at it, they were not the majority before.' He emphasized that the investigations and case buildups are a result of allegations and evidence presented during hearings, not influenced by Senate groupings or political considerations.

President Marcos reiterated that the accountability processes will follow proper legal channels and insisted that the truth will emerge if public officials have not committed any wrongdoing. 'And the best part is, if there really is a case, and if they did nothing wrong, that will come out in the review and judgment process,' he said.
