Roxas city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday led the distribution of rice assistance to farmers and vulnerable sectors in Roxas City, Capiz, as part of government efforts to cushion the impact of rising food and fuel prices. A total of 500 beneficiaries received 10 kilos of rice each during the activity held in Barangay Milibili.

According to Philippines News Agency, of the total beneficiaries, 300 were farmers from the barangays of Bolo, Bato, Bago, and Milibili. The remaining 200 recipients belonged to vulnerable groups, including persons with disabilities and solo parents. This initiative is part of the administration's directive for local government units to maximize the use of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF).

First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos joined the President during the activity, along with Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas and former senator Mar Roxas. President Marcos previously implemented the rice distribution program in Manila and announced plans for its nationwide rollout to ensure sustained relief for beneficiaries.

The initiative is part of broader government efforts to address economic pressures and ensure food accessibility for affected communities. The President has also expressed openness to increasing LGSF allocations, subject to efficient utilization by local government units.
