Marcos Highlights Air Force’s Role in National Defense and Pledges Continued Support

Pasay city: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. underscored the vital role of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in national security and disaster response during the PAF's 78th founding anniversary celebration at Villamor Air Base. He pledged ongoing government support to enhance and modernize the service amidst ongoing regional threats and internal challenges.

According to Philippines News Agency, President Marcos lauded the PAF for its steadfast commitment to its mission and improving capabilities in securing the nation's airspace and assisting civilian communities. He emphasized the PAF's integral presence in defense and humanitarian operations, acknowledging its efforts in monitoring air and maritime activities amid tensions in the West Philippine Sea.

President Marcos noted the PAF's achievements in operational milestones over the past year, highlighting its role in tracking unidentified air tracks and monitoring thousands of vessels near Philippine waters. The PAF has also been instrumental in supporting internal security efforts, tracking insurgents, neutralizing threats, and aiding law enforcement in tackling criminal activities and smuggling operations.

He commended the professionalism and sacrifice of the Air Force personnel, emphasizing their dedication to their duties even without public recognition. Marcos reiterated his administration's commitment to the PAF's modernization, promising continued support for acquiring advanced equipment, training, and facilities.

The President highlighted improvements in the Air Force's capabilities, noting the delivery of new aircraft, expanded training programs, and completed infrastructure projects that enhance the strategic deployment of air assets.
