Marcos Orders Probe into Siquijor Electric Coop Amid Power Crisis

Malaca±ang: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has mandated a comprehensive investigation into the operations of the Siquijor Island Power Cooperative (SIPCO) as the province continues to experience power outages.

According to Philippines News Agency, the directive is a response to the ongoing energy crisis in Siquijor, which is exacerbated by water shortages and economic challenges faced by the residents. Palace Press Officer Claire Castro announced that the President has already called upon outgoing Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla and Acting Secretary Sharon Garin to address the pressing situation.

The President has tasked relevant government agencies to act promptly. 'Nagbigay na rin siya ng direktiba, ang ating Pangulo, para sa isang malalim na imbestigasyon sa power provider na Siquijor Island Power Cooperative (The President has issued a directive for a thorough investigation into the power provider Siquijor Island Power Cooperative),' Castro stated during a Palace briefing.

Additionally, the President has instructed an immediate resolution to the longstanding power supply issues in the province.
