Marilao: The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp. announced that the major structural repairs on the Marilao Bridge have been completed as of midnight Monday. In a statement, NLEX Corp. said all four lanes of the NLEX Marilao Northbound segment are now passable to motorists.
According to Philippines News Agency, NLEX Corp. expedited the repair work on the Marilao Bridge, which sustained significant damage due to a truck violating regulations. The company expressed gratitude to the public for their understanding and patience during the repair period. NLEX Corp. emphasized its commitment to improving safety and traffic management across key areas of the expressway to ensure the safety and convenience of its customers.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) directed NLEX Corp. on Thursday to immediately suspend the collection of toll fees along the Marilao Northbound segment after the Marilao Interchange Bridge was struck again by an oversized container truck on Wednesday. Subsequently, NLEX Corp. began a toll holiday from Balintawak to Meycauayan from 1 a.m. Sunday until Monday midnight.
The bridge had suffered similar damage on March 19 after being hit by an oversized truck, which necessitated repairs that initially closed three northbound lanes of the NLEX segment in Marilao. Those repairs were completed on March 26, one week ahead of schedule.
