According to Philippines News Agency, Mary Jane's father, Cesar Veloso, described the news as an answered prayer, following years of appeals for her return. In a radio interview, he expressed his appreciation for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., saying, "I want to thank our President because our desire for Mary Jane to be sent home will soon come happen." Similarly, her mother, Celia Veloso, acknowledged the President's efforts and those aiding in her daughter's return, noting, "With the help of our President and others who have been helping us, there is now clarity that it is possible for her to return to the Philippines." President Marcos con firmed on Wednesday that an agreement between the Philippine and Indonesian governments has been reached, facilitating Veloso's return. The Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has also welcomed the news of Veloso's impending return.
