Masbate: The Mines and Geosciences Bureau in Bicol (MGB-5), along with mining companies across the country, provided relief assistance to families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Opong in Masbate.
According to Philippines News Agency, MGB-5 Director Guillermo Molina Jr. IV stated that donations have come from both large- and small-scale mining firms, as well as partner organizations. These donations include food packs, bottled water, hygiene kits, construction materials, and other essential supplies valued at an estimated PHP16 million.
Molina expressed gratitude towards the mining stakeholders nationwide for their support, highlighting that their collective efforts demonstrate the enduring spirit of bayanihan within the mining community and across the nation. He emphasized that this initiative is part of the bureau's ongoing efforts to support affected families, in collaboration with Pusong Minero, the Philippine Society of Mining Engineers - Bicol Chapter, and other mining companies across the nation.
He further noted that the contributions from these companies reflect their continued partnership with the government in enhancing the welfare of Filipinos, particularly during times of crisis.
