MANILA: The head of the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Wednesday said stringent security measures are implemented at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) but the public cannot be restricted from taking photos or videos. "We are strict in terms of security, but we cannot tell people not to carry their phones and take photos," MIAA General Manager Eric Ines told the Philippine News Agency. Taking photos in the immigration area is prohibited. Ines acknowledged that a "media person" was able to take a video and photos of Vice President Sara Z. Duterte on her way to a recent trip. "We checked the CCTV (closed circuit television) in the area (where Duterte was photographed) and the CCTV has not been functioning for a long time. So the footage didn't come from the airport," Ines said. Ines claimed that the "media person" was using another identification card that was "from OVP (Office of the Vice President) yata (maybe)." "He has the ID. How can I tell him not to go there and not to take photos?" Ines added. Ines said they have yet to discuss with the new NAIA operators, the New NAIA Infra Corp., who would take charge in providing IDs to workers and other stakeholders. Source: Philippines News agency
