Manila: The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), the regulatory body overseeing the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has announced a significant dividend remittance of PHP7.59 billion to the national Treasury.
According to Philippines News Agency, MIAA General Manager Eric Jose Ines emphasized that this remittance signifies the Authority's commitment to prudent fiscal management and its effective regulatory responsibilities under the NAIA public-private partnership (PPP) framework. Ines stated, "This dividend remittance demonstrates MIAA's unwavering commitment to responsible fiscal stewardship and good governance."
Ines further highlighted that the MIAA remains focused on enhancing regulatory oversight and ensuring the Authority continues to deliver substantial value to the national government and the Filipino people. The San Miguel Corp.-led New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) officially assumed management and operation of the country's main gateway in September 2024, with MIAA serving as the airport regulator since then.
Additionally, MIAA's dividend remittance is noted as the highest among the attached agencies and Government-Owned and Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) under the Department of Transportation (DOTr). The remittance by MIAA accounted for nearly half of the PHP15.29 billion collectively remitted by the DOTr and its attached agencies and GOCCs.
