Manila: The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has initiated exploratory talks with Al Mansour Holding, a Qatari firm, to discuss potential investments amounting to several billion pesos in the Mindanao region, as officials reported.
According to Philippines News Agency, MinDA Secretary Leo Tereso Magno stated that discussions with the sovereign-backed company have included potential projects in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, digital transformation, and financing. The talks have opened opportunities for Mindanao to address existing challenges in energy supply, logistics connectivity, food security, and digital infrastructure.
Specific investment areas being explored encompass integrated renewable and LNG energy systems, inland port development, agro-industrial estates, and the expansion of national fiber optic networks. Magno highlighted that these discussions align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s strategic focus on positioning Mindanao as a key growth engine through enhanced energy security and agri-industrial modernization.
Al Mansour Holding, recognized for its large-scale projects in Africa and Asia, considers Mindanao a promising investment location due to its abundant resources and strategic trade position in the region.
