CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police arrested a mayoral candidate in the Misamis Oriental town of Lagonglong for estafa, the Misamis Oriental Police Provincial Office said Tuesday.
Danilo Gadrinab, 51, was arrested at his home on Monday by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Henry Damasing of Regional Trial Court Branch 24.
The court has recommended a bail bond of PHP72,000 for Gadrinab, a civil engineer by profession, and an independent mayoral candidate.
In a phone interview, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Misamis Oriental chief Maj. Gerson Soliven said a businessman who used to supply materials for one of Gadrinab’s construction projects filed the case.
“After we questioned him (Gadrinab), he said he had a contract and his client did not pay him. The materials that he should have paid for, he was not able to pay because he was also not paid,” Soliven said.
Soliven said Gadrinab is detained at the CIDG Misamis Oriental custodial facility. (PNA)
