More cops to be deployed for poll duty in NegOr

The province of Negros Oriental will receive an additional 175 police personnel from the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7) to augment the current security forces who will be deployed for poll duty on May 9.

Provincial police director Col. Germano Mallari told the Philippine News Agency in an interview Monday that the augmentation police personnel will arrive in Negros Oriental on Wednesday.

“We are thankful that PRO-7 will be sending 175 personnel to the province on May 4 to augment our troops at the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office,” he said in mixed English and Cebuano.

“This will complete the security requirements of the province and we are now 100 percent ready for the elections,” he added.

Mallari said police personnel will be assigned to all the polling centers, station duty, as security details during the delivery of vote-counting machines and election paraphernalia, and Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) in strategic locations.

The Philippine Army will also be deploying its own troops as augmentation to the police, he noted.

A send-off ceremony is scheduled on Friday for all the police personnel who will go on poll duty.

“Our security deployment plan is already in place and is ready for execution two days before the elections,” Mallari said.
