Manila: Results of a recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey revealed that 59 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied with the performance of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.
According to Philippines News Agency, the survey conducted from December 12 to 18 highlighted that 59 percent of adult Filipinos expressed satisfaction with the administration's performance, while 23 percent were dissatisfied, and 17 percent remained undecided. The administration maintained a net satisfaction rating of +36, which is categorized as "good."
The survey showed the administration received "very good" ratings in five critical areas: assisting disaster victims (+65), enhancing children's education quality (+60), aiding the poor (+57), policies for job creation (+51), and advancing science and technology (+51). Additionally, seven areas were rated "good," including implementing housing programs for the poor (+49), ensuring food security (+46), maintaining an efficient public transportation system (+45), preparing for typhoons (+44), addressing climate change (+38), transparency with the public (+34), and defending Philippine sovereignty in the West Philippine Sea (+32).
The administration was rated "moderate" in ensuring no family goes hungry (+26). Three areas received a "neutral" rating: combating crimes against citizens (+4), regulating oil prices (-2), and eradicating corruption (-3). However, the administration received a "poor" rating in combating inflation (-12).
The December survey indicated satisfaction was highest in Balance Luzon and the Visayas, both at +44, followed by Metro Manila at +31 and Mindanao at +16. Compared to September 2024, net satisfaction increased by 13 points in the Visayas but declined by seven points in Mindanao. Metro Manila and Balance Luzon experienced minimal changes.
Rural areas witnessed a slight decline from +42 to +39, while urban areas saw an improvement from +31 to +33. Satisfaction remained "good" among women, increasing from +33 to +36, but experienced a slight dip among men from +39 to +35. Among age groups, satisfaction levels remained steady among 18-24-year-olds, 25-34-year-olds, 35-44-year-olds, and those aged 55 and above. However, satisfaction among 45-54-year-olds dropped eight points from +36 to +28.
In terms of educational background, satisfaction rose among elementary graduates (+40) and remained stable among junior high school, senior high school, and college graduates. It declined among non-elementary graduates from +48 to +37 but stayed within the "good" range.
The survey employed face-to-face interviews with 2,160 adults nationwide, including 1,080 from Balance Luzon and 360 each from Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao. The sampling error margins were ±2% for national percentages and ±3% in Balance Luzon, and ±5% each for Metro Manila, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
