Manila: The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - South Manila District Engineering Office has initiated a three-weekend asphalt overlaying project on sections of Maria Orosa Street in Malate, Manila.
According to Philippines News Agency, the DPWH announced in a social media post late Friday that the asphalt overlay work on both the northbound and southbound lanes began on March 7 and will continue every weekend until March 30. Motorists have been advised of potential traffic slowdowns in the affected areas and are encouraged to consider alternative routes.
The DPWH stated, "The repairs will be conducted one lane at a time, requiring partial closure of the affected portions." Following the initial repairs from March 7, 2025, to March 9, 2025, the asphalt overlay activities are scheduled to proceed over the weekends of March 14 to 16, March 21 to 23, and March 28 to 30, 2025, to minimize traffic disruptions.
Once the repairs are fully completed, the previously closed portions of the lanes will be reopened to motorists the following day. This project is part of the DPWH - National Capital Region's ongoing efforts to improve road safety and efficiency, not only in Malate, Manila but across the region's roadways.
