Manila: Filipino veterans will enjoy free rides on the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) from Saturday (April 5) until Friday next week (April 11).
According to Philippines News Agency, MRT-3 General Manager Michael Capati announced that the initiative is part of the celebration for the 83rd Day of Valor and the Philippine Veterans' Week. The MRT-3 management recognizes the sacrifices and contributions of veterans during World War II, as emphasized by Capati. He stated that, similar to previous years, this gesture is a way to honor and thank the veterans during the Philippine Veterans Week.
To benefit from the free rides, veterans must present a valid identification card from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) to security personnel at any MRT-3 station. Each veteran is allowed to bring one companion who can also avail of the free ride. The offer is valid during the entire operational hours of the MRT-3 throughout the specified period.
The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) is also extending the same free ride services to Filipino veterans and their companions over the same period. Additionally, all passengers of the LRT-2 can enjoy free rides on April 9 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
