MTRCB Summons Viva Over Content Creator’s Profane Remarks

Manila: The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has summoned Viva Communications, Inc. to a dialogue after a viral video surfaced, showing one of its content creators making profane remarks against the agency. The incident occurred during the premiere of Dreamboi, an official entry to the CineSilip Film Festival 2025.

According to Philippines News Agency, the MTRCB, in a statement on Friday, labeled the content creator's comments as 'disrespectful' to the institution and the individuals behind the Board's work. The agency expressed its concerns in a letter dated Oct. 23, addressed to Viva President Vincent Del Rosario, stating that the meeting aims to foster mutual understanding and promote responsible conduct in public events.

The letter highlighted the MTRCB's "Responsableng Panonood" campaign and its vision for healthy collaborative practices with stakeholders, inviting Viva to a dialogue on the reported incident. The agency emphasized its support for freedom of expression while also taking seriously any behavior or language that undermines respect for public institutions and the standards governing film and television classification.

The meeting is scheduled for Nov. 4 and is intended to serve as a venue for constructive dialogue and a reminder of the importance of professionalism, accountability, and mutual respect within the entertainment industry. The MTRCB reiterated its commitment to maintaining open communication with its stakeholders while ensuring that the country's film and television industry continues to promote responsible viewing and uphold ethical standards.
