Manila: The National Amnesty Commission (NAC) has announced the receipt of a total of 2,424 amnesty applications.
According to Philippines News Agency, the latest NAC tally shows that 1,546 of these applications have been submitted by former members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF).
Additionally, 63 applications were received from the Rebolusyonaryong Partido ng Manggagawa-Pilipinas/Revolutionary Proletarian Army Alex Boncayao Brigade (RPM-P/RPA/ABB). A further 518 applications came from the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), while the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) submitted 297 applications.
NAC reported its participation in the Inter-Cabinet Cluster Mechanism on Normalization, organized by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity. During this event, NAC received its highest single-day intake of 127 applications from members of the MILF and MNLF.
The commission also engaged in its first intake activity with members of the RPM-P/RPA/ABB-Tabara Paduano Group, now known as Kapatiran Para sa Progresong Panlipunan, in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental. Additionally, NAC's visit to the 79th Infantry Battalion in Sagay City, Negros Occidental resulted in the receipt of 41 applications from Kapatiran members.
The NAC's role is to receive and process amnesty applications, assessing whether applicants qualify for presidential amnesty.
