Quezon city: The National Police Commission (Napolcom) announced the resolution of approximately 4,000 cases that had been accumulated over the past 25 years. The announcement was made by Napolcom Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan during a press conference.

According to Philippines News Agency, the announcement followed the commission's final Summary Dismissal and En Banc Session for the Calendar Year 2025, during which the last six pending cases were resolved. Calinisan expressed that the achievement marks a historic day for Napolcom, emphasizing that the zero backlog milestone is now a reality rather than just a target.

Calinisan highlighted the significance of this accomplishment by stating that effective leadership, integrity, and diligence have the power to resolve longstanding institutional challenges. To maintain this momentum and prevent future backlogs, he mentioned that the commission will continue to expedite the handling of administrative cases within a 60-day period. Additionally, police officers dissatisfied with the commission's decisions have the option to file motions for reconsideration.

Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor 'Jonvic' Remulla, who serves as the ex-officio chairperson of Napolcom, also praised the commission's efforts. He noted that achieving a zero-case backlog spanning more than two decades is a substantial achievement, reflecting strong leadership and a dedication to justice and accountability.

Napolcom's success aligns with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to expedite case handling across government agencies, thereby enhancing the country's efficiency and advancing its justice system.
