Nationwide Voters’ Registration to Resume on October 20

Manila: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) will resume the nationwide voters' registration activities on October 20.

According to Philippines News Agency, the seven-month registration period will be held until May 18, 2026, in all regions of the country except for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

In an interview, Garcia mentioned that they anticipate over 1 million applicants to register during this period. "We believe we can reach 1.4 million registrants," he added. However, he noted that the BARMM region is not included in the scheduled activities as it will follow a separate timeline for voters' registration.

The Comelec chief explained that registration activities in the BARMM region are set to begin on May 1, 2026, and will run until May 18 of the same year. The decision to exclude BARMM from the initial registration schedule is to accommodate unique regional requirements.

Earlier, the poll body conducted a nationwide voters' registration from August 1 to 10. Data released by Comelec showed a total of 2,727,643 applicants during the 10-day registration period, indicating substantial public interest in electoral participation.
