Manila: The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) announced on Sunday that the landing dock, BRP Davao Del Sur (LD-602), is preparing to depart for Batanes, carrying essential relief supplies for victims of recent typhoons. The Navy ship is currently awaiting favorable weather conditions to ensure a safe journey to the affected communities.
According to Philippines News Agency, the BRP Davao Del Sur is set to transport over 100 tons of relief goods, including rice, food packs, hygiene kits, and construction materials. The cargo comprises contributions from various agencies and organizations. Among the notable contributors are OCD Region 2 with 11.75 tons of rice and family food packs, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation with 8.60 tons of food and non-food packs, and the Department of Health (DOH) providing 8.20 tons of hygiene kits. Additionally, the Department of Agriculture (DA) is supplying 5.21 tons of rice and vegetable seeds, while the Department of Transportation (LTO) is offering 1.71 tons of ass
orted goods. The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is providing communication equipment, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is contributing 105.47 tons of assorted lumber. Furthermore, TV5 Alagang Kapatid Foundation is donating 12.30 tons of corrugated GI sheets, and GMA Kapuso Foundation is contributing 52.35 tons of assorted relief packs.
Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the government, acknowledging the mission as a testament to the strength of collaboration across government agencies and the private sector. He extended gratitude to all contributors, emphasizing the importance of ensuring no one is left behind during challenging times.
