Pagadian city: The National Bureau of Investigation has apprehended a man in Pagadian City for reposting an online image of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. with the word "headshot" superimposed over it.
According to Philippines News Agency, the NBI - Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) announced that Michael Romero, also known as Mike Romero, was arrested in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur on September 30. He faces charges of inciting to sedition and violating Republic Act 10175, known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
Romero had posted a Facebook image with the words 'Headshot' overlaid on a picture of President Marcos, which included a red arrow. This post prompted the NBI to take action.
A two-day joint operation by the NBI-CCD and NBI-Pagadian District Office led to the discovery of Romero's residence. He confessed to owning the Facebook account under the name 'Mike Romero,' leading to his immediate arrest.
Romero has been taken to the NBI-CCD office in Pasay City, where he underwent standard booking procedures.
