NBI Arrests Two for Human Trafficking in Bataan

Bataan: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced that its Bataan District Office (BATADO) has apprehended two individuals on charges related to human trafficking. Regina Tagulao and Grazel De Vera were detained at a resto-bar in Limay, Bataan on September 3 for allegedly offering women, including minors, to customers for sexual services.

According to Philippines News Agency, the operation resulted in the rescue of five individuals, two of whom were minors. The suspects have been charged under Republic Act (RA) 9208, as amended by RA 10364 and further amended by RA 11862, known as the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022. The minors are currently under the care of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office in Limay and will be transferred to temporary shelters.

In a separate incident, the NBI-Iligan District Office (NBI-ILDO) arrested Brenneth Buot for impersonating an NBI agent. Buot allegedly used a counterfeit NBI badge and identification, carried firearms, and claimed to be an NBI agent at various gatherings. He also promoted investment in FU DALU Agricultural Products Trading, leading to his charge of Article 177 (Usurpation of Authority) of the Revised Penal Code. The case was filed before the Office of the City Prosecutor in Iligan City on September 3.
