NBI Arrests Woman in Pampanga for Online Bomb Threats

Pampanga: The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested a woman behind the series of online bomb threats against schools in Pampanga.

According to Philippines News Agency, the NBI-Central Luzon Regional Office (NBI-CELRO) announced that Sheila Gonzales, 21, was apprehended in her residence at Barangay Pandan in Angeles City on October 13. She has been charged with violations of Presidential Decree No. 1727, known as the Bomb Prank Law.

The local government had requested assistance from NBI-CELRO due to multiple bomb threats targeting several schools and universities in the province. These threats were communicated via social media and the internet.

The threats were eventually determined to be hoaxes, with no actual bombings occurring, as reported by the NBI. A cyber-investigation led to the identification of the actual user and creator of the fraudulent social media account linked to the bomb threats.
