Manila: National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Officer-in-Charge Brig. Gen. Christopher Abrahano on Friday conducted a walkthrough and ocular inspection of roads and key areas in Manila ahead of the rallies scheduled for Sept. 21. The NCRPO is already on full alert, with 15,746 police officers deployed for the anticipated protest actions. The inspection allowed Abrahano to examine the route firsthand as NCRPO prepares for activities related to the martial law commemoration.

According to Philippines News Agency, Abrahano visited areas near the Malaca±an Palace compound, Ayala Bridge, Chino Roces Bridge (Mendiola), and Liwasang Bonifacio, and checked the preparations made by the Manila Police District. He then proceeded to the EDSA Shrine and People Power Monument along EDSA in Quezon City. During his visit, Abrahano was briefed by Eastern Police District Director Brig. Gen. Roman Arugay and Quezon City Police District chief Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo on the security plans and deployments for the rallies.

In a press briefing at Camp Crame in Quezon City, spokesperson Col. Allen Rae Co stated that the Philippine National Police is confident there would be no riots, unlike last year. Co explained that they have calibrated their security plan and deployment to better address the events of the previous year. Additionally, Co mentioned that no group has applied for a permit to hold an assembly on Monday.

Progressive group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan had previously announced plans to hold a program at 3 p.m. at Manila's Liwasang Bonifacio, a freedom park that requires no permit under Batas Pambansa No. 880 or the Public Assembly Act. Co further noted that no security threat has been monitored as of posting time.
