Manila: The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will be on full alert starting February 21 to maintain peace and security ahead of the upcoming Trillion Peso March.
According to Philippines News Agency, NCRPO spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo announced in a press briefing at Camp Crame that the alert level will be raised. Despite not monitoring any specific threats, the NCRPO is coordinating with other intelligence agencies to ensure preparedness for any eventualities.
To enhance coordination, the NCRPO plans to hold a conference with the march's organizers to finalize operational plans and process necessary permits. Based on the approved permit, the Trillion Peso March will occur from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on February 25, with an expected attendance of up to 20,000 people. Key locations such as the People Power Monument in EDSA, Ayala Bridge, and Mendiola will be under police surveillance.
As part of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) under the PNP Focused Agenda, personnel deployment will focus on strong district coverage. This includes contributions from the Quezon City Police District, Manila Police District, Southern Police District, Northern Police District, and Eastern Police District. Additional personnel from the Regional Headquarters, Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and Special Action Force will provide further reinforcement.
Support units from the Police Regional Office-Central Luzon and MIMAROPA will also be mobilized, deploying 1,000 officers each. This extensive security coverage aims to ensure effective crowd management, traffic control, emergency response, and public safety monitoring throughout the event.
