Cambodia's National Election Committee (NEC) has recently received and shared reform work with European Parliament delegation.
The meeting took place here in Phnom Penh late last week with an intention to ensure the transparency and fairness during the upcoming commune/sangkat council election in 2017.
According to NEC Spokesperson Mr. Hang Puthea, discussion issues included awareness raising on election, polling solution for Cambodian overseas and migrant workers, and facilitation for people with disability and those who are indigenous ethnic minorities.
Key reforms have been witnessed, though there are more things to be done and some are beyond the capacity of the NEC.
The National Election Committee calls for the contribution from the civil society organizations to further make election in Cambodia transparent and fair.
