Bacolod: The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) has urged Negrenses to secure their homes and stay alert in crowded places during the holidays. In a statement, PRO-NIR Regional Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay emphasized the importance of public cooperation for safe and peaceful celebrations.

According to Philippines News Agency, Ibay called on the community to remain alert, responsible, and cooperative. He highlighted that public safety is a shared responsibility, and with the active participation of communities, a peaceful, orderly, and joyful Christmas and New Year can be ensured for all Negrenses.

Ibay mentioned that PRO-NIR is ramping up police visibility operations through intensified patrols, strategic checkpoints, and close coordination with local government units, barangays, and force multiplier groups across the region. He reassured the public of the office's full commitment to safeguarding lives and properties and maintaining peace and order throughout the Yuletide season.

In its advisory, the PRO-NIR provided security reminders as part of its intensified peace and order measures during a period marked by increased travel, gatherings, and commercial activities. Residents were advised to secure their homes and valuables and stay vigilant in crowded areas such as malls, markets, churches, and transport terminals. The office also stressed the importance of adhering to traffic laws, particularly the prohibition against drunk driving.

The PRO-NIR further reminded the public to comply with local ordinances on firecrackers and pyrotechnics, observe fire safety precautions at home, and closely supervise children to prevent accidents and injuries. The advisory encouraged the public to report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or local hotlines.
