Manila: The Negros Occidental provincial government's SecuRE Negros comprehensive power security program is bringing renewable energy (RE) awareness to local government units (LGUs) and communities across the province through the Be REady Roadshow.

According to Philippines News Agency, the campaign is organized in collaboration with the Negrosanon Initiative for Climate and the Environment and will kick-off in Cadiz City on Aug. 5, with subsequent events planned in Bago City and Himamaylan City. Organizers announced on Monday, "The Be REady Roadshow is coming, bringing together local governments, partners, and communities as we move toward a more energy-secure, energy-efficient, and renewable-powered future."

The initiative aims to empower LGUs and communities to lead the transition toward clean and renewable energy in Negros Occidental. The roadshow is part of three major initiatives launched during the Renewable Energy Week Expo 2026 held last May. Alongside the roadshow, the Negros Occidental Energy Innovation Sprint (NOEIS) encourages the next generation of innovators to develop local RE solutions, while the RECreate Negros focuses on accelerating renewable energy adoption through community-based projects across the province.

Entries to the NOEIS are vying for a PHP1-million prize pool, with projects centered on feedstock, biodiesel production, testing, deployment, or the broader value chain. These initiatives are aligned with the SecuRE Negros Roadmap or Negros Occidental Energy Sector Development Strategy and Action Plan, which outlines the path for achieving a sustainable, secure, and renewable energy future for the Negrenses.

The Renewable Energy Week Expo this year generated an estimated PHP6 million in actual sales and submitted quotations, reaching approximately 359,000 people through digital and on-ground engagement.
