Tanjay city: The 302nd Infantry Brigade (IB) of the Philippine Army, stationed in Tanjay City, Negros Oriental, is set to welcome Brig. Gen. Jason Jumawan as its new commander. Jumawan is scheduled to formally assume the role during a change of command ceremony at Camp Leon Kilat on Wednesday, where he will take over from Brig. Gen. Joey Escanillas.
According to Philippines News Agency, Brig. Gen. Escanillas has been serving as the top official of the 302nd brigade since May 2023. He will transition to his new role as Assistant Division Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division, which is based in Jamindan, Capiz.
Brig. Gen. Jumawan brings a wealth of experience to his new position. He previously held the role of Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations at the Philippine Army headquarters in Metro Manila, working under former commanding general and current Armed Forces of the Philippines chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. Additionally, Jumawan has served as the commanding officer of the 82nd Infantry Battalion and as the executive officer of the 301st Infantry Brigade.
A member of the Philippine Military Academy 'Marilag' Class of 1995, Jumawan is academically accomplished, with three master's degrees to his name. His educational background includes National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines, Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines, and Public Administration from the University of the Philippines.
