Negros oriental: More than 3,500 job vacancies will be offered in Negros Oriental during a Labor Day job fair on May 1, the 124th Labor Day celebration. Public Employment Service Office (PESO) manager Ailen Balsamo said during a forum that about 20 employers - 17 local and three overseas - will participate.
According to Philippines News Agency, local openings include call center agents, massage therapists, and sales clerks. Overseas jobs include factory workers in Taiwan, female cleaners in the Middle East, and waiters and waitresses in the Middle East and Europe. The job fair, to be held at the Ninoy Aquino Freedom Park, will also feature a one-stop shop with government services.
The provincial government will provide free medical, dental, and legal services, including consultations, medicines, eye checkups, reading glasses, massages, and haircuts. The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) will offer free livelihood training, while games and a motorcycle raffle will be organized by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council.
Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) provincial director Joselita Remedios Bayalas said the celebration will also mark World Day for Safety and Health on April 28. On May 1, a motorcade will open the event, followed by a program, social services, and the job fair.
About 13 agencies will participate, including the Professional Regulation Commission, Social Security System, Philippine Statistics Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Migrant Workers, PhilHealth, National Labor Relations Commission, National Bureau of Investigation, TESDA, Philippine National Police, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
DOLE will also conduct TUPAD payouts and Kadiwa Para sa Pangulo. The provincial government will distribute rice to participants, though eligibility has yet to be finalized.
