Negros Oriental Police Seize P11.9 Million Worth of Shabu in May

Dumaguete: The Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) made significant headway in combating illegal drugs in May, seizing approximately 1,760.13 grams of shabu valued at PHP 11.9 million. This was revealed by an official on Monday, highlighting the success of intensified police operations.

According to Philippines News Agency, NOPPO spokesperson Lt. Stephen Polinar attributed the accomplishment to enhanced police efforts. He noted a spike in demand for shabu as individuals returned to the province for the May 12 elections, coupled with an increase in supply from other regions.

Polinar reported that 37 anti-illegal drug operations were executed throughout the month, resulting in the arrest of 43 individuals. Among those apprehended were eight high-value targets and 35 street-level suspects, showcasing a comprehensive crackdown on illegal drug activities.

In addition, Polinar mentioned that from May 29 to 31, Simultaneous Anti-Criminality Law Enforcement Operations led to the apprehension of over 700 individuals. These arrests were linked to various offenses, including illegal drug possession and sales, illegal gambling, possession of loose firearms, existing cases, and violations of local ordinances.
