Bacolod: The Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) has invested PHP1.3 billion in capital expenditures (capex) as of the end of 2025, with expectations to complete critical infrastructure projects by 2026. In a recent statement, Negros Power president and CEO Roel Castro emphasized that these investments are part of a strategic plan to establish a resilient, modern, and customer-focused power distribution system.
According to Philippines News Agency, the most significant portion of the capex was allocated to projects focused on improving reliability. These projects include the upgrading and modernization of substations, power lines, poles, and transformers, along with the rehabilitation and replacement of aging meters and other vital infrastructure. Additional investments were made in acquiring modern substation testing tools and equipment to maintain system integrity and minimize the risk of outages.
Negros Power took over electricity distribution operations from its joint venture partner, Central Negros Electric Cooperative, in August 2024. Upon this takeover, the company committed to a five-year development plan involving an investment of PHP2.1 billion. The franchise area covered by Negros Power includes the cities of Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, and Bago, as well as the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto.
Substantial resources have also been directed toward information technology infrastructure, software, and digital tools aimed at streamlining operations and enhancing the overall customer experience. Furthermore, investments have been made in modern safety equipment and personal protective gear for field personnel, in addition to human capital through training programs, professional development initiatives, and industry conferences.
An allocation of PHP250 million has been made for the company's three-year Sitio Electrification Program, which aims to achieve 100 percent electrification across its franchise area.
