Neneng Expected to Leave Philippine Territory by Thursday

Manila: Tropical Depression Neneng is forecast to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the next 12 hours, the weather bureau said in its 11 a.m. bulletin on Thursday. Neneng was last tracked 450 km north of Itbayat, Batanes, moving slowly towards the north northeast, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

According to Philippines News Agency, the cyclone maintained its strength with maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, and gustiness reaching up to 55 kph. Currently, there is no wind signal hoisted on any part of the country. However, PAGASA has indicated that most regions in Luzon and Visayas, along with the Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga del Norte, will face strong to gale-force gusts due to the southwest monsoon.

Additionally, rough sea conditions are expected over the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Zambales, as well as the western seaboard of Pangasinan and the northwestern seaboard of Kalayaan Islands. Mariners operating motorbancas and similarly sized vessels are advised to exercise caution while navigating the seas.

PAGASA also noted that Neneng is expected to move over the waters off the eastern coast of Taiwan and is likely to weaken into a remnant low later today.
